GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CASSAVA AND CORN IN MONOCROPPING AND INTERCROPPING
Abstract
This study aimed to quantify the growth and the development of cassava intercropped with maize in different plants in monocropping and intercropping. The experiment was conducted in the experimental area of Agricultural Sciences Complex Unitins, city of Palmas, TO. The treatments were: T1 simple corn-rows (monocultures); simple cassava T2-row monoculture; simple T3-row cassava + 1 line of corn between the cassava rows; T4 double-row of cassava in monoculture; double cassava T5-row + 1 line of corn between the double rows of cassava; T6 double-row of cassava + 2 corn rows between the double rows of cassava; double cassava T7-row + 3 rows of maize between the double rows of cassava. For cassava variety was chosen Cocoa for the corn variety utilized BG7032H which is an early hybrid. For the cassava were evaluated: plant height, stem diameter, the first branch height at 90, 120, 150 and 180 days after planting (DAP), while the stand was made at 30 and 180 DAP. For the corn crop, evaluated at 87 days after sowing, they were: plant height, first ear height and diameter of the stem, while the stand was at 30 and 87 DAP. To compare the means used the Scott Knott test to 5% probability and the regressions used the scatter plot, development of corn and cassava
