THE IMPORTANCE OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING UNDER THE PERCEPTION OF INFANTS IN THE BASIC HEALTH UNITS OF THE AUGUSTINÓPOLIS – TO MUNICIPALITY
Abstract
The main objective of this study was to investigate the perception of the infants attended at the Basic Health Units of the city of Augustinópolis - TO regarding the importance of offering breast milk exclusively in the first six months of the child 's life. The research is descriptive and exploratory with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The municipality has five UBS, in which, the research was performed with two infants per each unit, thus totaling ten participants, thus using forms for data collection. The results show that the infants were informed about the importance of breastfeeding in 91%, of which 60% were guided by health professionals in the municipality, however, 70% already fed the newborn with another type of food. At the end of this research, we reached the goals about the perception of the infant about exclusive breastfeeding to the newborn in the city in the UBS of Augustinópolis - TO.
