DA ESCRAVIDÃO AO PRECONCEITO CONTRA OS POBRES: A DIFICULDADE DO ACESSO À LEITURA E À ESCRITURA
Abstract
Reading is still difficult, despite academic efforts. Insecurity scares students newcomers to high school. Slavery that lasted three and a half centuries, marked the literacy started with sons of the oligarchs, seen as a privilege during the colony. Immigrants arrive in the Empire. With the end of slavery (Golden Law-1888), slaves are abandoned, hatred is transferred to blacks, Indians and the poor. The 1st Republic is marked by social struggles, work and citizenship, but lack access to reading, education and work, conditions to reach the 21st century.
