IMPACTOS NA ECONOMIA LOCAL A PARTIR DA IMPLANTAÇÃO DE UMA UNIVERSIDADE

Abstract

The present article approaches the local development, from the economic perspective from the implementation of a campus of the State University of Tocantins in the city of Augustinópolis / TO. The objective was to understand how the Higher Education Institution produces economic effects in the local community, analyzing the impacts on the generation of employment and income and verifying the changes that the HEI has caused in the economic structure of the municipality. The research was of quantitative and qualitative approach, using documents and bibliographic revisions. It was observed with the study that there were 109 direct jobs generated on campus; insertion of more than 400 professionals in the labor market; and changes in the local economic structure with the opening of 338 new companies, which represent 26.69% of the total companies in the municipality. The results shown are even more relevant because they have been achieved in such a short period of time, in just five years of existence, UNITINS has already gained visibility for its reflexes in the local society.
