SOCIAL INEQUALITY AND “BOLSA FAMÍLIA”
Theoretical reflections on income transfer programs as a way of overcoming poverty and social emancipation.
Abstract
This article discusses concepts such as economic development, economic growth and its relation to social inequality. We seek to identify a theory that presents us with less unequal economic growth. Amartya Sen's theory shows us that for economic growth it is necessary to centralize investments in social programs and policies, because through them it is possible to broaden the freedoms of individuals. Based on this, we will discuss how the Bolsa Família Program can improve the social welfare of beneficiaries and their relation to economic growth. We will present possibilities of social emancipation through this Program and data that demonstrate the overcoming of the poverty of beneficiary families.
