Abstract
Despite the preventive and therapeutic advances, the AIDS is configured, still in the present day, as a serious epidemic. Considering that the vertical transmission, which occurs when the virus passes from the mother to the baby during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding, is a public health challenge, this needs to be faced by Brazil's health policies. This work shows how monitoring is performed, that the multidisciplinary team of the Henfil Assistance Center carries out with HIV+ pregnant women in the municipality of Palmas/TO. To better understand this reality, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the professionals of the Nucleus who serve this public. From the research, one can know the practice and expand the knowledge about the procedures performed by the core professionals, and also providing knowledge to avoid prejudice and taboo related to the gestation of HIV+.
