A obra retrata a comunidade quilombola do Remanso, situada na Chapada Diamantina no estado da Bahia. A autora aponta quais as interferências e mudanças promovidas pela cultura de massa na comunidade e como os avanços tecnológicos tem forjado novas identidades e reestruturando as relações sociais construídas pelos sujeitos.
