Peer Review Process

The peer-review process of the papers submitted to the Humanities & Innovation Journal is divided into two moments. First, the paper is analyzed by the organizers of the thematic issue and by the journal’s editors who make a preliminary assessment of the relevance of the papers’ content concerning the proposed theme and the editorial policy of the Journal, as well as the wording adequacy to the proposed genre and the publication norms. In this step, the paper can be rejected or forwarded to the peer review (reviewers/referees).

Second, the paper, without any authorship indication, is submitted to the assessment of two reviewers, members of the Editorial Team, or reviewers ad hoc. Only the papers approved by the two reviewers are published, and if the modifications requested, when existent, were covered by the author. In the event of conflicting opinions in the evaluation of the paper, a third opinion will be required.

The originals are sent to the evaluators without the identification of the authors. However, when reading the manuscript, the evaluator might recognize the institution or the authors. In this case, it is requested to the reviewer to verify if there is no interest conflict and whether it is possible to evaluate the paper impartially. The identities of the evaluators are not revealed to the authors.
