OBVIEDADES NÃO ÓBVIAS DA EDUCAÇÃO - EDUCAÇÃO NÃO PODE TUDO

Resumo

Educação pode muito. Não tudo. Disse Paulo Freire: “Se educação sozinha não transforma a sociedade, sem ela tampouco a sociedade muda” (2000). Mudar a sociedade é um empreendimento complexíssimo, ingente, incontrolável, que uma política sozinha não tem como sequer presumir. Em dimensão um pouco menor, mas ainda astronômica, educação sozinha não garante os direitos humanos, também porque, sendo naturalmente ambígua, gente educada pode arruinar a emancipação dos outros (Freire, 1997). Desenvolver consciência crítica não tem apenas a direção do bem; pode ter do mal. O exemplo mais clarividente é a emancipação europeia a partir do Iluminismo, modernismo científico, revolução industrial: a Europa se emancipou em muitos sentidos, mas coibiu a emancipação de outros povos, via colonialismo mormente (Harding, 1998; 2006; 2011).

Biografia do Autor

Pedro Demo, Universidade de Brasília

Possui graduação em Filosofia - Bom Jesus (1963) e doutorado em Sociologia - Universität Des Saarlandes/Alemanha (1971). Professor titular aposentado da Universidade de Brasília, Departamento de Sociologia. Professor Emérito. Fez pós-doutorado na UCLA/Los Angeles (1999-2000). 

Renan Antônio da Silva, Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho", UNESP – Marília

Professor na Universidade de Mogi das Cruzes (UMC), no Centro Universitário do Sul de Minas Gerais (UNIS) e pesquisador em diversos institutos. Pesquisador Associado em Projetos na FAPESP. Com Pós-doutorado em Ciências Sociais (UNESP/Marília) e Doutorado em Educação Escolar (UNESP/Araraquara).
