The objective was to evaluate the production characteristics of Mombaça grass submitted to different fertilization recommendations with Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium, combined with two defoliation heights, as well as the effects of these managements under the chemical attributes of the soil. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, in a 5 x 2 factorial arrangement, with six replications. The treatments consisted of five NPK fertilization recommendations (without fertilization - SA, replacement strategy - RP, manual strategy 5th approach Minas Gerais - 5AP, strategy of the enzymatic model of Michaelis-Menten - MM, and strategy of elevation of P to the maximum content agronomic (EP), and two defoliation heights (70 and 90 cm high). It was identified that the number of production cycles is greater in the 70 cm cutting strategy. Fertilization strategies to replenish the nutrients exported by grazing (RP), and, to supply half of the fertilizers that guarantee maximum production (MM) are more efficient and viable in the long term for forage production, and do not allow depletion of the stocks of P and K of the soil.
